Why this workshop matters Most people associate analytics with dashboards, advanced charts, and complex analysis — but none of that works if the underlying data isn’t ready. In fact, data cleaning and processing is often the most time-consuming and crucial part of the analytics value chain. In reality, raw data is messy: spread across multiple sources, full of errors, or lacking key fields. Without the skills to prepare data properly, analysis can be misleading — or impossible. This hands-on workshop helps you build those essential data preparation skills. You’ll learn how to turn raw, messy data into a clean, structured format that’s ready for analysis — saving time and improving confidence in your results. How we help you get there Across two highly practical days, you will: 🎯Understand how data cleaning and processing fits within the analytics value chain. 🎯Learn the principles of data quality and how to assess it. 🎯Develop practical skills in using MS Excel and Power Query to manage, clean, and process data. 🎯Gain experience working with real-world datasets through hands-on exercises and group projects. You’ll leave with new tools, techniques, and a structured approach to preparing data efficiently — so your future analysis is more reliable, faster, and easier to update. What you’ll learn (using MS Excel & Power Query) Through guided practice, you will: 📌Transform raw data into tidy, structured formats. 📌Merge data from multiple tables and sources. 📌Identify and remove duplicate records. 📌Detect and correct data errors. 📌Create calculated fields to support analysis. 📌Build reports that can be easily refreshed when new data arrives. Apply key Excel functions and Power Query tools to automate common data preparation tasks. Technical Requirements Please bring a laptop with Internet access and Microsoft Excel (version 2019 or later) installed. ✳️ Public Service Officers may register for this workshop via HRP using the same class code
