Why this workshop matters In today’s fast-moving world, relying solely on gut feel is risky. Yet many professionals shy away from data-driven decisions because analysis feels overly technical or difficult to understand. But the ability to interpret and extract insight from data is no longer optional — it’s essential. Without this skill, we risk drawing false conclusions, acting on incomplete information, or missing out on opportunities. This workshop helps you move beyond guesswork. You'll learn how to use data to support stronger, more objective decisions — in a way that’s practical, relevant, and free from technical jargon. How we help you get there We make analytics approachable — no statistics degree required. You'll learn to: 🎯Understand how data mining and analysis fit in the analytics value chain. 🎯Grasp core statistical concepts in plain English. 🎯Apply descriptive and inferential techniques to make meaning of your data. 🎯Avoid common pitfalls like confusing correlation with causation or misreading results. 🎯More importantly, you’ll develop the ability to think critically about what your data is really telling you — a skill that stays with you well beyond this session. What you’ll learn (using MS Excel) We use Microsoft Excel to bring these concepts to life. You'll learn to: 📌Summarize data using measures of central tendency and variation. 📌Explore relationships with correlation and regression. 📌Validate assumptions using T-tests, Chi-square tests, and hypothesis testing. 📌Use analysis outcomes to support decisions — not just generate numbers. Technical Requirements Please bring a laptop with Internet access and Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint), version 2019 or later, installed. ✳️ Public Service Officers may register for this workshop via HRP using the same class code
